Kitten Kingdom SA was founded from a genuine passion for pedigree cats, responsible breeding, and the joy that a well-raised kitten can bring to a family. Our vision is to promote a higher standard of ethical, thoughtful, and responsible cat breeding in South Africa while helping families find healthy, affectionate, and well-socialized feline companions.

Over the years, what began as a personal passion has developed into a dedicated home-based cattery focused on carefully raising and nurturing exceptional pedigree kittens. We specialize in a selection of beloved breeds, including Bengal, Birman, British Shorthair, Persian, Maine Coon, Sphynx, Ragdoll, and Siamese cats.

Our approach goes beyond appearance and pedigree. We believe that a truly exceptional kitten should be raised with attention to health, temperament, socialization, cleanliness, nutrition, early development, and human interaction. Where appropriate, we take into account pedigree information, family lineage, known hereditary considerations, physical characteristics, temperament, and overall suitability for breeding. At Kitten Kingdom SA, the health and wellbeing of our cats are at the heart of our breeding program. We believe responsible breeding starts with making informed decisions about the health, history, and overall wellbeing of our breeding cats and continues with attentive care throughout every kitten’s early development.

Genetic Health & Responsible Breeding

Where genetic testing is available and appropriate for a particular breed, we consider relevant hereditary conditions when making breeding decisions. These may include conditions such as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD), Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), and Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PK-Def).

Our approach is focused on responsible pairing and reducing avoidable hereditary risks. We carefully consider available health information, pedigree history, breed-specific considerations, and veterinary guidance when selecting cats for our breeding program.

Vaccinations & Preventive Care

Our kittens receive age-appropriate veterinary care and vaccinations as part of their early development. Core vaccinations are administered according to an appropriate veterinary schedule, helping provide protection during the important first weeks of life.

Kittens also receive routine deworming and parasite-prevention care appropriate for their age and individual needs. We maintain careful records of their vaccinations and preventative treatments so new families can understand the care their kitten has received before going home.

Veterinary Assessment

Before joining their new families, our kittens are assessed with their overall health and wellbeing in mind. We work with veterinary professionals when health concerns arise and encourage every new owner to establish a relationship with a trusted veterinarian after bringing their kitten home.

Identification & Records

Where applicable, kittens are microchipped using internationally readable identification technology, providing an additional layer of identification and helping owners maintain important records throughout their cat's life.

Our responsibility does not end when a kitten leaves our care. We believe prospective owners should receive clear information about their kitten's health records, vaccination history, preventive care, feeding, socialization, and ongoing needs.

Rather than keeping kittens isolated from normal household activity, we aim to provide an environment where they can gradually become familiar with ordinary sights and sounds. Depending on their age and development, this can include conversation, television, household movement, vacuum cleaners, doors opening and closing, and other normal household noises.

This helps kittens become more comfortable with the sounds and activity they may encounter in their future homes.

Positive Family Experiences

Where appropriate and under supervision, kittens may be introduced to different people and family environments. Positive exposure to adults and children can help them become more adaptable and comfortable around different types of people.

Supervised Introduction to Other Animals
